Phase 2 is the middle school phase for pupils in Years 5 to 8. Pupils in Phase 2 continue to develop their skills, ensuring an effective transition from Year 6 to Year 7. In addition, this is an important phase where we welcome new pupils joining the school for their secondary education.
During Years 5 and 6, pupils will study the following Areas of Learning and Experience:
Welsh, English, Mathematics and Numeracy, Science and Technology, Health and Wellbeing, Expressive Arts, and Humanities. Pupils in Years 5 and 6 are taught by class teachers as well as by secondary specialists to enrich their experiences and ensure they can make full use of all Henry Richard School facilities. They share lunchtime and playtimes with Phase 1 pupils.
During Years 7 and 8, pupils will study the following Areas of Learning and Experience:
Welsh, Welsh Literature, English, English Literature, Modern Foreign Languages, Mathematics, Science and Technology, Humanities, Expressive Arts, and Health and Wellbeing. The Year 7 and 8 curriculum is broad and balanced to prepare pupils for making important choices when they reach Phase 3.
