The main aim of the provision for Additional Learning Needs (ALN) at the school is to ensure that all our pupils reach their potential within a supportive environment.
We provide support in accordance with the Code of Practice for Wales and are diligently preparing to implement the new code by ensuring one-page profiles for all staff and pupils, as well as conducting centralised person-centred reviews. We also take pride in being an Autism-Friendly School, accredited by ASDinfoWales in partnership with the Welsh Government.
We strive to identify learning difficulties early and provide support as needed. Every pupil recognised on the ALN register receives support, whether through small group work, access to another adult, or teaching support within or outside the classroom. The team of assistants has extensive experience working with pupils with a variety of needs, and we aim to work closely with the pupil, parents, and external agencies to provide the best possible support.
The school Hafan is available to all and offers a welcoming environment for every pupil. Relaxation activities are held in a calm atmosphere during morning and lunchtime breaks, and the various rooms within Hafan are also used for life skills sessions, computing, and pastoral work, ensuring that wellbeing and mental health are a priority.
The school’s Additional Learning Needs Coordinator (ALNCo) is Mrs Nia Jakubowski.
